Orange Sky

I just came back from a walk with a friend and was reminded of an article I read recently.
The article spoke about the two types of people there are in the world: Givers and Takers. The writer asserted there were those who were willing to listen to others and subsequently develop a high threshold towards being neglected (emotionally or otherwise), and those who just sucked the life out of you with all their problems and really contributed nothing else. I realised after reading the article that I am (both proud to be and kinda not)...a giver.

My friend, for lack of a better expression, did not shut the fuck up for 1+hours. I heard only about her problems, her schoolwork, her love life (or lack thereof) etc. At about the 30 minute mark I was ready to welcome death with my arms open. Usually, I am more than happy to be the friend that people feel comfortable enough to talk to about most things , but there is a line. This girl went waaaay past it. Actually she's a repeat offender. It's just a shame I guess when you give people the benefit of the doubt only to realise they are exactly what the rumours (you've heard and ignored) suggest.

So my resolve is to surround myself with people who will take and give equally, as I hope to do.
What's the point of being around people who only want to get together to have one big depressive party to mourn their lives? That's right friend, there is no point!

Until my next underwhelming post on stuff no one cares about,
Adios Amigos :-)

Seriously, guys??

What is with this influx of local D-list celebrities whoring out products these days?

I mean seriously...Poh from MasterChef is now the spokesperson for New Idea or something like that. I walk into a bookstore and see all three judges from that show with their own books on 'Food Etiquette' and 'How to Eat Greek Food'. Ummm...sure...

Then there's Livinia Nixon's love for DFO, Kate Ritchie and her vaseline-d body, Jessica Mauboy loving Telstra, Sharon from Kath and Kim diggin on Jenny Craig and that's just what I saw during one ad break. It's sad and it pisses me off.

That's me venting for the night.
Time for dark to take over, I'm off to bed.
Night all.

More music...

Ah ok, so my blogs will probably revolve mainly around music...I'm pretty obsessed with it. If I had to choose between being blind or deaf it would probably blind just because music (prepare yourself for a cliche quote) owns my heart! haha

Anyway just today I discovered a rad ass band called 'Mumford & Sons' check em out. They have like this folk hilbilly kind of sound, which may not sound too appealing but I'm not a music reviewer so sue me! Also...Frightened Rabbit kick ass!

Florence and the Machine are really doing it for me lately, and sad to say, but Pete York and Scarlett Johansson's latest offering is kinda good (after a couple listen) it's got this really unique 80s kinda sound to it. I used to really dislike Scar Jo's music so this is a nice turnaround, I think.

Who else am I digging? Apes & Androids...haw yeah. Grizzly Bears.
Flipping Frank Sinatra is awesome. One can never tire of his music. (Actually yes you can, you can really grow to loathe his tunes with too many listenings, but we wont talk about that right now...)

So yeah. That's it. Man this must be the worst blog in the history of the universe. Mehhhhhhhhh, sue me! I smell food...

Til next time biatch(es)...

Music of the Moment

I'm a very musical person and currently in a whirlwind delirium as I've lost my iPod. :( So I thought that I would share my favourite top 4 artists AT THE MOMENT. If i new how to bold and italic that shit i would because my musical taste is very eclectic and changes nearly every week! Why 4 do you ask? Because i said so! So here I go...

1) Nick Drake...one of the most hauntingly beautiful acoustic songs ever written would have to be Pink Moon. It's so simple yet touches you so quickly and it's a song i listen to over and over and over again. Drake received the bulk of credit for his musical talents posthumously (as was the case with J. Buckley also).
2) Alexi Murdoch. Naw, you can't help but imagine yourself perched on a rocking chair sipping on some peach iced tea in the midst of a summer day with not a cloud in sight whilst listening to this great stuff! I implore you to check this stuff out it's AWESOME!
3) City & Colour- Dallas Green...'nuff said.
4) Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago is the ALBUM YOU SHOULD ALREADY HAVE. Justin Vernon the singer composed all lyrics and music and recorded it out in his fathers cabin...the result is unlike something i have ever heard before. Nah fuck it I'm moving Bon Iver to my new number 1 and good ol' Drake can take over number 2 and so on and so forth :-P

As you can see this week has been quite sombre and somewhat depressing and my musical tastes reflect that quite seemlessly.
I'll have another list next week informing ya'll of any progress on account of my disposition (and in turn the music I'm listening to!)

On a serious note, if anyone has actually read this....THANKYOU!!!!!
Till next time,
Au revoir

ZIggy Stardust

Is it me or has 'INDIE' shit suddenly become the most RAD AWESOME shit in the whole entire world??? Now, I'm not against some Zooey Deschanel in the morning, (far from it...I actually wake up to her music quite often) but by God I could swear I've seen about 500,000 '500 Days Of Summer' posters and trailers lining every back-street of Melbourne. Do self-proclaimed 'indie' artists get pissed off when their work is introduced to the mainstream world? When suddenly every 14 year old wearing Supre is singing along to Thom Yorke and Ben Gibbard? Is their musical integrity jeapordised...or is that just my meds talking?

In other news, this is my first blog! Hooray for me. I don't know my goal for writing this-perhaps I'm hoping it will become a little thearaputic outlet for my often marred mind-and perhaps I will succeed in this hope...or fail miserably! dun dun dunnnn!

Until next time bitches, drop a line...let me know if anyone is reading this! Would be grand! Ta darlings
